How to Order

1. Compile your Inspiration Photos

When choosing your photos, keep these tips in mind!

  • Make sure the photo has good lighting

    • In a well lit picture, the planes, highlights and shadows of your loved ones face will stand out more, making the picture more interesting.  Also the colors of the animal's coat will be easier to see and duplicate. I will edit the photos that come in to make the composition better.

  • A photo that captures their personality

    • Animals are so beautiful and have such amazing expressions in their eyes, that I think these images make better paintings.  Generally the subjects in my pictures end up near, or larger than life. While I prefer doing close ups on your loved one's face, I will happily do a full body picture if the canvas size you request is big enough.

  • Get down on their level

    • A better representation of your pet's face is found in a picture taken on their level.

2. Choose Your Canvas Type

Think of the finished product - would you like to hang the canvas on the wall without a frame, or have the canvas framed?  There is no price difference between the choices.

  • Canvas Wrapped Frame - Also called Gallery Wrapped canvas, uses thicker wood stretchers, usually around 1.5 inches deep.  The sides of the exposed canvas will be painted black.  This is a more informal and contemporary look, and saves money since you won't need to buy a frame for your portrait.

  • Frame Canvas - A thinner canvas (usually around .75 inch deep) will be used.  This depth canvas fits easily within canvas frames (frame is not provided by LMH Arts).  The sides of the canvas will not be painted.

3. Choose Canvas Size
Price of your portrait is dependent on the size. Options are listed below with suggestions based on the size of your pet(s). The price includes one animal in the portrait. Each additional pet increases the price of the final portrait by $200.

  • 11 x 14  -  $325  - suitable for a smaller dog or a cat

  • 16 x 16  -  $400

  • 16 x 20  -  $480 - large dog, two dogs close together, or a full body small dog

  • 16 x 24  -  $580 - good size for 2 larger dogs

  • 20 x 20 - $600

  • 24 x 24  -  $860

For a larger canvas, the charge is $1.50/square inch.
